How do you know? There'll have almost certainly been some clause in there that could potentially be used as a reason to drop him and cut his pay. Whilst I appreciate there's a massive difference in level, the performing contracts my daughter has to sign have all sorts of clauses about professionalism (including one that gave them the right to cancel her contract if she gained weight!).

Exactly, I'd be amazed if he gets paid his full tour fee. Promoters are going to protect themselves and will ensure they are the last ones to be out of pocket.

Quite, but these kinds of personal experiences of aresholes are indicative of general character traits. General racism is one such trait.

Even if he only geta a percentage of his fee he's still wealthy enough to make good on his commitment.

Whilst it's the US where who wins can often be determined by who can spend more on lawyers, in my view there is a good argument that Maclemore was making a humanitarian comment and the promoters were being political.

Seen several "representatives of" interviewed on TV (of obvious allegiance) declaring that "Free Palestine" actually means "Destroy Israel" - and I regard that interpretation as political (and totally mad). And if such broad interpretations of language are considered valid I bet if you look at the lyrics of Sheeran's songs you'll find some horrendous stuff.

I agree that what he said shouldn't have been contentious and it's a classic case of those who seek to justify the actions of the Israeli state throwing anti-semitism accusations at anyone who criticises them but the clauses in contracts are likely to be wide ranging and open to interpretation. I would expect the promoter to argue that they had to drop him to avoid the tour getting cancelled by venues and that as a result of his actions he was therefore unable to complete his obligations under the contract. I doubt there'd be much of $1 million left after legal arguments anyway.
