It's a rout - is the old order on the way out?

Fortunately not everyone shares this foolish perspective, that gaining wealth is ''doing better in life''. There are no pockets in a shroud.

The lefty view is that when one has 'enough' then any surplus rightly belongs to those who do not the means or opportunities to have 'enough'. This is why a part of my income has always gone to charity. In my own case, in my early employment I never had quite enough, but later I always had more than enough.

In my case I have always tried to support the homeless, especially homeless youngsters who have been turfed out of home for doing no more than coming out to their parents.

For me it is more worthy to give a hand to those who need a hand up, than to use that hand to punch down. That's the difference between someone like me and someone more like you.

I give to charity regularly. And knowing what a teacher earns, it's pretty safe to say that I pay a lot more tax that you do. So don't give me all this 'holier than thou' crap.

Not holier than thou. I don't do religion. I believe in humanity and humility, and not in belief of humiliation of the humble.

You are not a humble bragger, neither is CXRTrumpwit. You are both wrapped up in exaggeration of self and exploitation of the other.

God help anyone you offer help to. I remember this nugget of foolishness ...

I took some money out of savings and bought a property for wife and I to move. We kept our old property until the spring and sold for better price on a rising market. Spent that money buying properties for our children

What's wrong with that?

We saw a property which we wanted, moved money to achieve our aim. Invested in the children's future by removing their need to have a mortgage.

But if you have children, their pockets will be full

Money doesn't guarantee happiness. But it removes one of the major burdens of life in achieving happiness.

Would I be with money or not.

Definitely have money 👍

Others here will spot it too.

If you sell in a rising market, and buy in a rising market, then not only do you not gain wealth, you lose it.

From what you say, you lost interest on cash investments, and paid more in stamp duty on new properties acquired. You sold at a price in a rising market, and unless that was followed by a downturn shortly afterwards, you got less value at the time of purchases than the time of sale.

I remember seeing at the time and thinking ''what a muppet''. Then of course there is your propensity to brag about wealth. Anyone can have wealth, all you need is to do is inherit it. I've known quite a few feckless people who have inherited quite a bit of money. Winning the lottery is not a talent. ''Winning in the lottery of life'' is not always a talent.

Accordingly I might also might or might not have considerable wealth, but that's for me to know.

I won't link to it but that seems to be a Cocknified misremembering of the actual quote - 'Don't panic, love. Everything will be OK.' I wouldn't worry. I don't think anybody will think you're working class off the back of using 'love'.

My point is, that it was made up. Journalists for these sorts of papers take the basics of the story you tell them and turn it into whatever they want it to be. Especially the red tops.

Everything comes with a price tag if you want to buy.

We were prepared to pay to move house. If you've never owned you wouldn't know that

Excellent, you have something to pass on to others 👌

As a former teacher I've already I've spent my life passing on something more important, something that has managed to pass you by.

That'll be you can change your sex from male to female then.

Good job you were pensioned out. There are enough nutters teaching currently 🤣

I wasn't ''pensioned out''. I chose my retirement time.

And no I did not teach that ''you can change your sex from male to female''.

But there's no shortage of nutters on the internet pretending that they are the only people with human rights.

Have been smoking something?

Anyway, let me know which bit of my post above isn't true.
