There is a fungus that invades ants and turns them into zombies. It controls the ant to find a place suitable for the fungus spores to grow and then once there kills the ant.

This does sound a bit like Truss's premiership career.

I suspect the Tories will keep her going for as long as necessary - until a "unity" candidate is found. That might be a while seeing as how the Tory party fight over everything like ferrets in a sack.

I doubt she will be allowed control over anything important. I expect she will busy herself with "supply side reform" which won't crash the markets (possibly) and will require legislation changes to temper any particularly stupid ideas she has.

Interesting to see what the ERG head-bangers do now. They got everything, Brexit, effective control of the Tory party after Boris' 2019 purge and a PM drinking the IEA economic Kool-Aid. And it came crashing down in a matter of a few weeks. I imagine they don't possess the self-awareness to reconsider their theories but - in true cult style - will double down. The problem isn't the policies, the problem is we weren't doing them enough.

She's no different to any of them...it's just a lot of the press and her own MPs have decided to turn against her.
Feck we've had austerity for the last 12 plus years,people like to blame Brexit,Covid,War.Its a political choice.
Like any of them were going to do things different !

As @stowie succinctly pointed out, the ERG effectively hijacked the party since Cameron, Truss was a lucky puppet for them who naively bought theirs (and IEA's) schtick and installed a cabinet of sycophants, it's not surprising then that nobody in cabinet thought the mini budget a bad idea....

I'd happily wind the clock back to the early days of the Cameron Govt/Pre-Brexit. Even shoot can have grades of disgusting....
Since then the UK has spaffed away billions, lost it's world influence and economic standards, increased the gap between the haves and have-nots, and increasingly shat on the poorest in society.
Johnson and now Truss just hastened our trip down the toilet....

When was the last decent government in your opinion?
Who was our best PM in recent times?

We have been in decline for 100 years. There may have been the occasional "up", but, the general trajectory has been down.

It's your view and It's insulting to all those that died as a result of the Tories and the moderate Lib Dems under there austerity on the back of bailing the banks out !
This is no different from Hunt....I'd prefer him to say "some of us are going to die but it's a price we have to pay"
