Food banks are being closed on Monday so people can show their respects by starving. It's what she would have wanted.

Should the people who run/volunteer at the food banks, or the drivers who bring the food, not get the day off? Perhaps you could offer your services as a volunteer to help keep them open. Presumably you'll be taking the bank holiday off and be free that day.

So... Center Parcs decided the best way to commemorate the Queen was to kick everyone out of their accommodation for 24 hours?

They have since U-turned on the decision, but what is going on with people?

Nope. Monday is usually change over day for Center Parcs. What they have said is that people staying more than one week (a very, very small number of affected people) will be able to stay in their accommodation after realising it was stupid to try and throw them out. But the villages and facilities will be shut.

It turns out their staff want the bank holiday and they don't want to pay overtime.

Has hunger been informed?
People will be able to visit on days when the food bank is open. This may come as a shock to you but food banks are not open 24/7.
In Walton on Thames for example we have two food bank distribution centres. One opens on Wednesdays between 10am and 12pm and the other on Thursdays and Fridays between 10am and 12pm. Similar hours are in operation in Tadworth, Ewell, Banstead, Epsom and Leatherhead.

I would imagine that for those that operate on a Monday they will just choose to open on a different day that week.

Hmmm. There are options for 3,5 and 7 day stays. The 7 day guests were most affected, the 5 day guests will have a day less.

There are plenty of people staying 7 days at Center Parcs. And the initial thought Center Parcs had was to kick them off site in the middle of that stay and go .... well up to them I suppose.

the odd thing about Centreparcs is that they usually love bank holidays and their prices rocket for that weekend.
They don’t like this one because they’ve had no notice of it and can’t put prices up, but the staff want their usual double bubble.

I think this is pretty much it. Having recently been an inmate visited Center Parcs, I can confirm first hand the well honed machine to part people from money that it is.

As one tweet put it, this decision would have gone through several layers of management. At no point did anyone consider that kicking out paying guests from an expensive resort with nowhere for them to go for a night would be problematic PR wise.

Anyway they have altered it so that guests can stay for the night, although all activities are closed on the Monday.
