The TL:biggrin:R version is that Tory Party Central Office circulated an inaccurate and tendentious brief about an immigration solicitor to their mates in the press.

Which bit of the UK government is trying to go for and/or intimidate lawyers can you not understand?

EDIT why an abbreviation for too long/can't be arsed to read ends up with a toothy cartoon is a mystery.

It's all part of the populist playbook. See also the smearing of anti-warcrime marches as 'hate marches', and the attempts to play off the police (who aren't having any of it). I see the right-wing press has been scrabbling around to get photos of the odd idiot who does have a hateful placard with the aim of casting everyone in attendance in the same light.
