"Genuine mistake... We are confident that this issue did not have a meaningful impact on the prosecution, which included multiple strands of evidence.”

Yet it seemed to be the only bit of "hard circumstantial evidence".

At a minimum she's going to have to be re-tried.

Better acknowledge that now then let it drag on as so many cases did before.

We know law is imperfect, it having some feel of the Post Office debacle.

And in any debacle there is always some truth.
Now Nadine Dorries, an ex nurse is speaking out.

Well that's Letby well and truly screwed then...

As for being an ex-Nurse, she worked as a Nurse for three years from 1978 to 1981. The face of Nursing has changed quite a lot since then, but I'm sure her insights will be valuable...

And yet a jury found her guilty of the attempted murder of Baby K at the retrial where the mislabelling was corrected.

I have no idea if she is guilty or not, but, given the coverage, and, the emotive nature of what happened, I don’t see how she can get a fair trial or re-trial.

Plus if she did get released there would always be cloud over her.
I really hope she is guilty. Otherwise it’s a disaster for everyone involved, including the families of the babies.

I really hope that the actual truth is established and that a person isn't locked up for life due to statistical anomalies. There was a very good write up by MD in Private Eye a little while ago:-

Articles in Private Eye need reading with care and scepticism, they (like most journalists) are not above spinning stories and facts to suit their agenda. I have been to some degree connected with a number of matters Private Eye has reported on - some like the Post Office scandal they were brilliant and campaigning about rightly so. Sadly in other cases, less than upfront

That said, I have no idea of the underlying data in this case and am not commenting on the safety or otherwise of Letby's conviction.

EDIT
Having read the 2 Private Eye articles, they do make a compelling case - in so far as they refer to evidence - I am obviously not sighted on what other evidence there was and therefore unable to comment on whether her conviction would be safe in the light of the content of the 2 articles

I'd rather be ruined and outside than ruined and inside.

Being outside and vindicated didn't do anything for Sally Clark.

The problem here is the size of the mess, and how many people will be to blame if her conviction turns out to be a miscarriage of justice.
