I often see CXRAndy called a troll. I don't get it. So he posts a lot of tweets. So he has unpopular (on here) opinions.

No - he seldom offers opinions. He does not engage in discourse or respond to counter arguments. On the mothership he is capable of lucid discourse. Here he isn't. I have to agree with the others that the sole motivation for his presence here is to post misinformation from X to troll the forum.

This seems to me not to fall under the definition of a "discussion", c.f. "discussion boards".

Since you aren't here for the purpose the boards exist, you are a troll.

Exactly so. The few vaguely normal posts are only there to draw people in to the trollery.

S/he doesn't actually believe the twaddle s/he posts. If s/he did when somebody posts back there would be some response, discussion, highlighting other aspects.

S/he just enjoys the reaction and outrage it can cause in others and those responding are just satisfying that weird urge in her/his character. It's the responses that provide her/him that satisfaction.

nb I used to respond but then got to appreciate it's not about discussion, not about exchange of ideas just satisfying some weird urges from a poster who has no interest in learning or appreciating anything s/he does not already agree with. Similarities for her/his hero Trumpton.

On a ride today mind wandering a bit and thinking if I had the opprotunity to sit down 1 to 1 with Trump to discuss "anything" what would I say? And realised I wouldn't say anything but I'd just walk out as I have far better things to do with my time that explain fact, science, reality, etc. to somebody who is totally unthinking and whose response at best would just be rude and insulting. And even if he listened and absorbed ideas, 10 mins later he'd have completely forgotten them.

Such an opportunity would be a complete waste of time when there are so many interesting useful things to be getting on with.

Same applies to trolls.

I really don't get it. It's so easy to avoid people on here either by using the Ignore function of by expending the miniscule effort required to scroll past their posts with your thumb (or mouse I guess). There's actually more shíte on here about ignoring trolls than there are posts by them.

Trouble is not so much the troll but the sometimes pages of quoting posts "Not true", "Check your facts", "Do you ever research anything" on and on. Trolling original post might he well hidden but all the twaddle futile attempts to point out daftness are not and there can be loads of such posts from the few who still think trolling posts are raising a point to be answered.
