I've fell for f**k all, read my other posts, tell me no one on here ever says things like flag shagger or ridicules anyone remotely patriotic.
I've already quoted the bike fixer bloke.

You've quoted me on something that is nothing at all to do with criticising patriotism. You can be patriotic without being jingoistic and believing that everything was so much better In our glorious past.

I'm sure you can but you're still putting a slur on people who think differently to you on this occasion, understandably so as you aren't English.

 You aren't STILL so stupid as to believe that? Surely, even YOU aren't THAT dim? You've fell for this, for one...

The “British” weights and measures system that some like to use as a symbol of their national identity is, like the monarchy, a foreign import. I find that both comforting and amusing.

Why does it bother you so much though?

Did you, as a younger man think to yourself "what a load of boll0x all this measuring shyte is, it's not even 'British' " or did you just use it and give no more thought about it like most people.

But, now there's an opportunity to get all anti UK or whatever you want to call it you go off on one?

Having said all that you're Scottish aren't you so I guess you have a reason to dislike anything English if you're in favour of independence, as would I.

Believe what?

I don't need to 'believe' anything do I, you make your own luck in life and carve your own path in my opinion so whichever party are in power I just get on with my life (which has panned out ok up to yet) and take little notice of things which I have no power over.

It only bothers me to the extent that I think it’s silly, that it’s a dog whistle, and that it’s a deliberate distraction. I’m pretty much bilingual myself at home, but working in an engineering discipline it makes no sense to use anything but SI units for anything that matters.

Preferring metric units isn’t anti-UK but I do see that there is an attempt to groom people to believe so. It’s nuts.

I’m not Scottish but would be comfortable with being so.
