No one has said they have, just some people see it as another opportunity to slag off anything to do with being British and try to belittle those that don't.

All the drawings I work to in my industry are obviously metric and like you it isn't a problem, in fact when I'm measuring something I use whatever is easiest.

If something is smack on 6" for example I'll use that but if a metric size is simpler I'll opt for that instead, not when following a drawing obviously.

As WInjim has already said, no one is slagging off Britishness, and it's been pointed out a number of times already that imperial never went away (including in your post I quoted), nor was it ever a requirement of being in the EU that we adopted the metric system.
There are no Brexit opportunities, there never were and never will be, people are starting to wake up to that, and to the fact that Johnson and this government are an utter shambles, corrupt to the core and totally unfit to govern. This is a bone to try to win back some of those lost votes. If Johnson loses much more of the populist vote he and the Tories are toast.
The metric system doesn't make anyone less British, any more than being in the EU made anyone less British, don't fall for it again Shep, it's bollocks.

But there you go, I'm sure the Cycle chatters know better and of course if another little piece of 'Britishness' can be removed from the world the more you folk like it. 👍
There you go. This is the target audience, the type of person that thinks a choice of measurement system somehow indicates the fervour of one's patriotism.

I don't but some do apparently.

It's not a big deal, except in the minds of some little Britishers with a fetish about our "glory days" but it's all part of the image of the return to the "glory days".

If you think Boris is doing this for practical purposes then you are deluded.

He is doing it to appeal to the "patriotism" of a certain type of his audience who still believe we were forced into metrication by those nasty EU people. He is backed by Rees-Mogg who even displays his prejudice by the incorrect and pejorative use of the word Suzerain.

I would expect the response of the left/pro-EU/rational contingent has been factored in, with some sort of anti-patriotism attack ready & waiting for the most opportune moment.

I can only attempt to divine your meaning from the words you write.

Why is that?

On this occasion I make no reference to wanting to return to imperial measurements but informed someone that although they didn't use them I did?

Likewise me pointing out that many on here like to disassociate with anything British althogh I don't doesn't mean I want imperial measurements to return, clear enough now?

Cheers for the heads up. 👍

I've fell for f**k all, read my other posts, tell me no one on here ever says things like flag shagger or ridicules anyone remotely patriotic.
I've already quoted the bike fixer bloke.
