Yes you can but what benefit is derived from such behaviour? Isn't it a bit like randomly throwing provocative sentences into an ongoing pub conversation but not waiting for an answer? After a while I expect anyone doing that to get a reputation as the local argumentative loony and be avoided.

Well yes, once you've subjected a population to a shock and awe bombing campaign you might then find it somewhat difficult to gain their trust. Similarly, if you've inflicted a hard Brexit on someone you might come across as a touch disingenuous if you then tell them to stop complaining and start being positive if you can't provide them with a single reason to do so.

Unfortunately Scotland hasn't become independent while I wasn't looking, so for the moment I am still very much under the Westminster bootheel.
