Private landlord, not social landlord....and it hasnt hit me in the slightest.

Unicorns dont exist, but people make up stories about them, same as UFO's etc etc etc

How to make yourself come across as even more of an utter c*nt in two poorly punctuated sentences.

I'll have a pint of Schadenfreude, please. What, you don't serve it anymore?

As much to do with Covid and the new reality than Brexit. COVID affect is likely greater than any boycott.
Saying that, the government mismanagement of our enegry is going to be on a par with Covid.
And sterling reaching par with eh dollar, and beyond, means the government footing the bill for energy is more unsustainable, the market being in dollars.

The low £ is good for exports is the new right wing claim. However they missed out the bit about it being due to real wages spiralling downwards.

Couldn't happen to a nicer twat....
Not great for those that work there, but fortunately there are no shortage of jobs in the hospitality sector so hopefully all will find better jobs with better conditions that working for Wankerspoons....

What about all of those poor pensioners who keep their fuel bills down, by spending their day in Wetherspoons, no need to switch the heating on at home, and, no need to use the oven?

You'll be able to have a whip round and buy one for yourselves....no more waiting for Tuesday night curry and a pint for 6.99.Every night could be a spoons night.

I was thinking of others, not myself, we (myself and drinking pals) sometimes slum it in Wetherspoons, but, usually prefer something a little more civilised, or, possibly, our club. ;)

Last night in a craft ale house drinking Mad Squirrel Roadkill, I was struck about how mobile hospitality workers were. 3 or 4 of the people, customers and staff, in there had worked in different bars in the last 3 months. (The place is popular amongst bar workers and Tuesday night is pretty much the end of the craft beer workers' weekend.) I agree that they will nearly all find alternative places of work in the locality with no loss of pay.

Yep. Quite a few of the pubs closing are in that there London. Many fewer office workers heading to the pub at the end of the day coupled with high rents and high fuel prices mean they aren't viable.

12 of the 52 are in London and that's including Croydon. It doesn't look like a disproportionate number so it's pretty much spread around the country's larger towns and cities.

Incidentally, the pubs will continue to trade until buyers can be found - that's their stated intention. I'm not sure finding buyers will be either easy or quick.

Sales pitch: Anyone want to buy a pub which we couldn't keep going even selling the cheapest food and drink of all pub chains? Pub comes with own set of elderly alcoholics, terrible carpets and poor quality but serviceable furniture. One careless owner.
