Allways thinking of others....how noble.

Sales pitch: Anyone want to buy a pub which we couldn't keep going even selling the cheapest food and drink of all pub chains? Pub comes with own set of elderly alcoholics, terrible carpets and poor quality but serviceable furniture. One careless owner.

There is actually a pub I know, in Jarrow, which failed as a Wetherspoons. It closed after a few months. It has re-opened now, presumably after being sold off and bought by some other pub chain.

12 of the 52 are in London and that's including Croydon. It doesn't look like a disproportionate number so it's pretty much spread around the country's larger towns and cities.

Incidentally, the pubs will continue to trade until buyers can be found - that's their stated intention. I'm not sure finding buyers will be either easy or quick.

It's too late to edit it now but I was wrong to say it was 52 pubs for sale. The correct figure is 32. My mistake.

Rwanda came to mind. But that is being premature.

Interesting you should say that. Perhaps, the best indicator is when the little rubber boats crossing the Channel are full on the Dover - Calais leg?

Get back from 'holidays' to face the prospect of the carefully crafted (if not without its flaws) ELMs scheme for post brexit agricultural support, at risk of being scrapped, or at least severely watered down ..
Quelle surprise.

So much work, study, and consultation, paid and unpaid went into devising this new scheme.
Which might..Just might, have been a tiny glimmer of small compensation in the otherwise barren wasteland of despair that is Brexit

Anyway, it's no surprise really.

But if anyone is in the area and fancies coming along to lend their voice in support of food and farming that puts people, good nutrition for all, and thriving sustainable ecosystems ahead of short termism, commodification of food, and profit for big corps only ..

We're doing this -
Next Saturday in that there Londin..

I kind of like the idea of The Met, having to decide whether or not to kettle a bunch of vegetables 🥘
