The surprise comes from being the chosen person to escort the Queen down the aisle.

The Queen can forgive him without offering him outright promotion at centre stage. He’s so arrogant to put himself in that position.
Well, I'm sorry if she's upset you, but that is the arrangement that Queenie opted for.

Forgiveness is a major foundation stone in the Christian faith. (loving your family - parents and children - is also generally supported).
In the context of Christian faith, forgiveness can only come after contrition and I've seen no evidence of the latter from prince Andrew.

Two things:
- this is piffle. And
- it bears no relevance to @newfhouse criticising Queenie's "unSaintly" actions/choices. Except that it quite possibly supports her actions - was that your intention?

(And are we perhaps wandering down a 6th-form debating hole? The Yeahbut ... Yeahbut ... Yeahbut ... approach to debate? Hmmm? x )

That’s not quite what I said, but still.

Which part(s) do you think are piffle and why?

And - I was addressing your post, nobody else's.

It may simply be an elderly mother showing publicly her love for her son despite his failings.
Maybe something only a parent understands....
She has little time left to do this.
