I think yesterday was less about punishment and more about the Royal Family cutting ties with trouble.

To me also significant is Prince Andrew hasn't lost all his titles, they haven't been removed, he's just said he won't use them which to me is trivial and irrelevant.

I have a fair number of post-nominal letters and have only used them litterally one or two times in my life.

I consider PA's titles should be formally taken away for this jesture to mean anything.

Sounds like he's just dropped them to avoid embarrassing the family further, maybe under pressure. If he had any decency he would completely disappear from public view. He has the luxury of being able to live out a quiet retirement (in a degree of comfort that most can only dream of) but instead he tries hopelessly to rehabilitate his reputation.
