Following on from a euphemistic comment or two on the CC daily thread, did this get covered here? I had a feeling it had been in the news recently again...

Hmm... does this mean we will all have to begin claiming to have prostate cancer, even if we haven't, or, risk being labelled a self-gratification artist? 😂

Ridiculous, 'Die Hard' is most certainly a Christmas movie. Bruce Willis even sticks a Santa hat on one of the bad guys he shoots, what could be more Christmassy than that!

What more does it need? Christmas time with various Christmassy things on set, Christmas music, jokes and a happy ending.
There is one thing though. My wife loves Christmas films and she hates that I point out it must be the end when the snow falls. 😂

Ah Mr Grimper there is only one reason you would raise this here. To sow controversy and division.

Is it a Christmas movie or a story of events that happened to take place at Christmas time? If you remove the festive references would you be left with a viable action movie?

I’m not coming down on one side or the other, but will point out that the song played at the end “Let it Snow” is a song about the weather, the lyrics do not mention Christmas, :snowball:

The wife watches all those cheap and nasty made for TV Christmas films. She at least accepts that they all have exactly the same plot i.e. man or woman with high powered job in the big city has to return to their small town home that they hated (and that always has heavy snow for Christmas) and couldn't wait to leave, they fall in love with someone from their past but are desperate to return to the big city before eventually realising they want to stay as they love the place and the old flame too much to leave (sorry for the spoilers). I'm prett sure it is the same actors in all of them too or they have a clone factory for actors in cheesy TV movies.

Someone was saying yesterday they'd never heard of rage baiting, this by MG was a perfect example.

Maybe we can blame all those crappy nostalgia-laden films for the state of the world now... is it stretching it too much to suggest that wanting to go back to some innocent happier imagined past underlies where we are in the world right now, wanting something than can't and never did exist, other than in our own minds?

And there, you thought you couldn't hate those films more than you do already.

I hear you. Ditto movies about princes.
Is it any wonder that males fail to meet romantic expectations? I avoided this by setting the bar low at the beginning. 😉

In that case I recommend for her “The Christmas Shepherd”, if I recall correctly it has variations of those elements plus a rather attractive German Shepherd.

Dog that is ^_^
