Since I'm locked out of FB & Devon WAI, is that on the way to Poundsgate?

Have your French ladies noticed your absence?

Yes. They thought I might be dead, and there was wailing in the streets of SE France. A friend added a few of my photos I'd sent her to my last post I'd, er, posted, to say why I'd fallen silent, but annoyingly the FB block on me is so total (now a week long) that I can't even see what's going on there.

WhatsApp has got me back in touch with the actual friends over there who were concerned (as I've even disappeared from Messenger). Probably stupid of me to rely on FB for personal comms, but after 18 years of using it reliably, I'd not anticipated an instant and complete block.

Also annoyingly, I'd not made anyone else admin of the French Page, so can't ask them to post updates, or to adopt it if FB decides I'm a threat to national security and banishes me for ever to Elba.

Have Facebook explained why they blocked your account?

No, other than a generalised reference to a contravention of 'Community Standards'. Unless photos of tanned calves are a crime, I've no idea what their AI has picked up, although a friend did wonder if my occasional reference to my local town in France, Die 26150, had been picked up as meaning I was threatening a person called 26150.

I assume the now-week-long lockout is because they are waiting for a real person to search through 10s of 1000s of posts to check to see just how naughty I've been.

I should have credited the BBC, who say it's the A382 between Mor'ton' and Lustleigh. I suspect it's the Lustleigh turning.

Ah yes, that's more likely. It's a good toboggan run (on a bike) if the road's clear. Maybe less wise in a gritter lorry. (Hope you don't mind my adding inverted commas to signify the missing letters from Moretonhampstead, in case anyone was looking for 'Morton' on the map.)

If only she'd posted you playing the Last Post.

FWIW, to give an idea of the scale challenge in Devon, here's the map of the primary gritting network, which, IIRC, is about 1100 miles of roads (out of a total of 8000 miles in the county), which will all be done at least once a day in the coldest weather, and some of the most important roads will be done 2-3 times per night.

Ha, I had to laugh at/with a pupil yesterday - we'd been working with backing tracks for music he's playing for an exam, putting it through a not-bad bluetooth speaker, and I mentioned that for doing a recorded exam, it would be better if he could put it through "the hi-fi".

He looked bemused, and asked what 'hi-fi' is.

I feel old.
