Instructions? There were none in my childhood. You got a box of bits and built whatever your imagination came up with.

I think that's what I didn't like about it. There was a box of bits and pictures of things you could build but no farking instructions as to how to build them. Lego was better.

Lego is a good way to waste time.

We just gave our seven year old grandaughter our son's almost 40 year old Lego kits to play with. She loved it even though some of the Technics stuff is probably too advanced for her yet. She wasn't too interested in his old Meccano stuff.

How is it that they only spin when they have a ball?

Okay... Underneath the robots are spinning turntables, as soon as the arms clasp a ball, you'll notice that it doesn't tilt forwards, in fact it leans backwards. Notice the grey cog in the centre of the robot. When the cog stops moving because of the ball, the robot tilts backwards, the turntable is activated. When it leans backwards, it engages the spinning turntable. As soon as the arms move backwards, it releases the ball and the turntable returns the robot back to it's starting position.

This bloke made a slow one (which wouldn't conform to GBC standards) but you can see the little black wheel in which the robot rotates on and as it comes around to the starting position, it drops and the attitude of the robot is reset to it's starting position, I hope that explains it better.
It's an extraordinarily clever mechanism by an extra ordinary GBC creator.

Might well do - do you sell MOC instructions separately?

Scroll down this page and you'll see a box to purchase instructions only.

If you go on my YT channel, you can choose another that you may like and there are links.
My GBC's are sold out of Build MOC (my own construction), Rebrickable and Planet GBC, the latter two sell instructions in pdf. They're good - probably because I didn't compile them.

I thought @Ian H might like this, as

1) It's poetry (or doggerel, or piggerel)
2) It recalls his being naughty on the mothership and getting his knuckles rapped
