Good spot. It's 1963, in fact - a really striking image, and had it not been for the diesel loco and the font could have been much more recent.

He mostly rants/postulates to himself, but Bluesky is a slightly weird beast: notable journos etc get a lot of interaction, but lesser mortals, including people who might have a lot of FB followers and interaction there get next to no interaction on their own posts, which is partly why it's still struggling to expand beyond the tens of millions of users, as the vast bulk of users don't build up a following (I think that's a function of how basic/dysfunctional Bluesky's algorithms are). With c.650 followers I'm in the top 1% for followers on Bluesky, but rarely get more than about 4 likes and one comment for a photo post, but get typically 100+ likes and 20 comments on FB. So I'm not surprised that ranty RC gets so little interaction on his own posts.

Only visible to people who are logged in. I don't X or Bluesky so I will need to remain ignorant.

I hope this "research" is a privately funded attempt to win an Ignoble prize. If not, these people should get proper jobs, because this is no more scientific that double blind parachute effectiveness research.

When I see photos like this, I'm starkly reminded that:

1) It was only 21 years after WW2
2) Poverty was very widespread
3) I was alive (2yo for this date)
