Quite a fun game. Whatever your views on Thatcher, it was good: the Geoffrey Howe speech, the parade of ministers telling her to go, the tears in the car... it was proper high drama.

Sunak deserves more.
To hold it in downpour which was fitting enough, but without an umbrella was just poetic.

I think we need some light relief from all the political talk...

I had a vasectomy about 10 years ago. The Dr injected the anaesthetic, then started the incision, at which point I nearly hit the roof. The anaesthetic either hadn't taken properly, or not enough had been injected. But it was the worst pain I'd ever felt (in the worst area you want it), and I nearly passed out. Luckily the nurse was quite good at keeping me calm. The Dr injected more anaesthetic and carried on. From that point it was all plain sailing. Some soreness for a week or two after, but I think after 2 or 3 weeks I was even cycling short distances (or it could have been motorcycling, I can't remember). No faffy contraceptives for me, and no loss of sex drive (not that mine was ever very high to start with)

That wasn’t his resignation speech. It was to announce the early election.
So very much the beginning of the end for him.

His resignation speech was actually pretty good and showed a side of him that had been sadly missing when he was PM. I think it highlighted that the Tory leader wasn't really leading the Tories in those last couple of years and the PM was just a front man.

I was given a prescription for something beforehand with no explanation of what it was and what to do with it. Turned out it was a loacl anaesthetic to stop the proper anaesthetic needle hurting. First side went fine but the second side worked out what was happening and went into hiding which made it far more uncomfortable!

Mine was about 12 years ago. Anaesthetic was fine but the doctor going the procedure took no notice of the fact that following an inguinal hernia repair, there were adhesions which made the job very difficult. Recovery was fine until one of my testicles increased to the size of a small potato. The battering he had given them caused a hydrocele which I had to have drained twice. Took a few years before they settled back down to normal size...

And this is part of the problem. Far too many of us seem to have a story where the vasectomy didn't go as well as you might expect.

Taking blood pressure readings in bed, properly relaxed, not after eating or exercise, and as if by magic they are suddenly 'optimal'. Who'd've thought?
