Or it's an excuse to hold a press announcement, get cameras and reporters in all focus on him (Faråge), lots of coverage on TV, etc.

Much of reporting covering Farâge but many of these migratory Tories quickly fade. eg what happened to Ms Dorries, but coverage on her joining and since then nothing (thank goodness).

Maybe it's more about Farăge than the latest to abandon the sinking ship.

A bit surprised that Failing Grayling hasn't been recruited as a financial expert to Reform. Just got to this passage in Dunt's book, at the end of his recounting of the near total collapse of the Probation Service under his 'management'...

Saw this:

Why is Reform called Reform?

‘Reformed’ meat is a processed meat product made by binding together trimmings, scraps and oddments of dubious provenance.

Since it is mostly composed of unidentifiable components or undesirable offcuts of, for the most part, the Conservative Party, presumably this is why Nigel Farage’s latest political vehicle is called Reform UK. Julian Self, Wolverton

I still believe that faced with a ballot paper and their "X" potentially putting Farâge in No 10 a fair number will chicken out and vote elsewhere. Maybe I'm just over optimistic.

But a long time to next elections and a lot can change between now and then (plus Labour getting to realise how easy it is to cancel elections ...)

Unfortunately I think you’re over optimistic. People have had enough of Labour and the Tories. The Lib Dems and Greens aren’t given any coverage so Reform is seen as the only alternative. The best hope is that people start to see what a shambles being run by Reform will be after the Council and Scottish/ Welsh government elections (although I’m hoping the people of Wales will see Plaid as the alternative to Labour despite not being a nationalist myself).

My reasoning would be that the Tories made a thorough and historic hash of it, the Tories who were part of that but not even up to the task of making a proper hash of it are now at Reform, and Labour are just in the process of making a hash of it.

So...

....I think we've seen enough of Labour?

Stops search engine crawlers and word cloud analysers from increasing the prominence of the name (ie doesn't contribute to the automated "what's the internet talking about".

There is a lot of cross site analysis carried out by search engine crawling systems. eg prominent search engines when deciding of prominence of each site in search results include analysis of what sites link to the given site & page. eg create a page on your personal website "Dutch Elm Disease in the 14th century" and when somebody uses eg Bing to search for "Dutch Elm Disease in the 14th Century" how prominent your page is in the search results depends in part on how many other websites includes links into your page and the ranking of those sites ... lots of cross analysis of content going on.

So don't use the real name and there it doesn't contribute even in a small way.
