Well, I suspect many of my fellow residents of South Tyneside would prefer a 3.99%. increase in Council Tax, to the 4.99% increase we have had for the past two of three years at least.

I'm sure they would. Do they also have a preference as to whether this comes at the expense of failing to fund care for the elderly, cancelling support for children with special needs or who need to be in care due to child protection issues, fewer bin collections?

Those thing are already in crisis, even with the 4.99% increases.

I didn't say it helped, I said the services you mentioned were in crisis anyway.

They have been in crisis since way back (long before Boris etc), I recall waiting in a corridor of an NHS hospital with my late mother way back in the Blair/Brown years..
