For once, Mason's analysis is correct. Mason may have never written a correct analysis before, and he may never do again, but in this he is spot on. Farage has reframed the narrative to his benefit, let's not forget that's Farage's specialty.

We'll just have to disagree on this.

An important consideration

Just reform voters? If so then why are other parties putting forward similar policies if they don't think that's what enough voters want, e.g. on immigration. Regardless of how distatsteful the wokerati of CCNCAP think those policies might be Show me its just Reform voters who want those sorts of policies.
The Tories want to be Reform - that's why most of them have joined and they are now unelectable.
Labour want to be Reform - that's why Shabhana Mahmood was appointed and one reason why there was such discontent with Starmer. they think that the Brexity former Labour supporters will come back to them if they are suitably xenophobic. Burnham may have more sensible policies.

The Lib Dems and Greens have very different policies to Reform and are not trying to randomly court the right wing vote.

Show me it's not.

All uphill

Apparently this is real, and suggests that the laughing at Farage will be a theme.

I think that's the best way to deal with him; he has a very thin skin and mockery will (hopefully) burst his bubble.

You'll have to talk me through how this could be a masterstroke. I can't see any way he 'wins' out of this, unless Parliament (and the press) just gave up investigating him if he were to win the by-election. In the meantime, all the focus is going to be on his financial shenanigans.

I think you are being too po-faced and sensible about this. Having been convinced for a long time that the people of the US were too sensible to vote for Trump a first, never mind a second, time and also not believing that polls would show Reform to be more popular than the Tories and Labour, I will never overestimate the intelligence or honourable motivation of the electorate, especially that of Clacton.

His base is not enough to win come the election.
As long as the majority see through his corruption we will be fine.

This. His base voted for him last time. He is now needing to convince others that haven't been brainwashed by his anti-establishment option nonsense and I don't see them falling for it considering the timing with him finding himself under scrutiny for what many will view as dodgy behaviour. He may even loose voters he fooled into belieiving that he was somehow different to the corrupt established politicians. Chuck in that there may only be one candidate standing against him that all those who don't like Farage can get behind and he could be in trouble, especially if people see a chance to totally humiliate him by voting for a joke candidate. He's taking a huge risk and I don't think he considered all the Parties refusing to get dragged into his stunt.
