I also wonder if sources of single large amounts (both to Farage and to Reform) might be a thing of the past or at least on the decline.

Those who make large amount from "less traditional" means tend to like staying away from the headlines and avoiding any scrutiny. Similarly, the wealthy with convictions don't tend to like their name next to "convicted fraudster" all over national press front pages.

Passing large amounts to Färage these days seems to attract scrutiny something most donors don't want.

And that might make Färage think there is more money to be made in Trümp's US ...

I read in Guardian that the Parliamentary inquiries about the declaration of the £5m carry on even if he is re-elected (paused now but if re-elected will resume).

So Clacton are potentially facing yet another by-election after this one which will irritate Faräge's electorate even more, adding further to the numbers of his supporters "staying home".

I think everyone knew that was the case from when Farage first announced the by-election (well, other than Farage and his advisers apparently). It makes it all the more amusing as he can’t achieve his objective and the best result he can get is winning an election against a comedian with a bin on his head. There’s no way he comes out of it in a better position than he went into it.

I'm not going to hold my breath, but I hope CB will get enough of a 'protest vote' to make us laugh. Also, part of me would like a Farage victory to lead to really proper scrutiny of all the financial dealings they are all swimming in, both from Parliament and the legal system, and for them to be taken to court if anything illicit is uncovered. Sorry, I mean anything else illicit, since Nathan Gill is already in jail, and probably could do with some company from his Reform buddies.

I read one set of polling that suggested of it was a two candidate race that CB could have won nearly 40% of the vote. That would have been one of the greatest election results ever, watching Farage crawl over the line against a bin.

Sadly they are dim witted, but they are a product of the last 40 years of neglect. Similar to other provincial towns on the margins of society. They are very easily manipulated into thinking Farage is doing them a favour.
The poverty in places like Jaywick is scandalous.
It is absolutely no coincidence that UKIP and Reform target these vulnerable communities that have been ignored by the governing parties for so long.
A win for Farage in Clacton is very different from being able to replicate the result elsewhere. As a more discerning electorate has shown they will vote for anything but Reform.
