It was a car crash interview. That's why I said she'd smashed R4. She consistently achieves a heady mix of sounding both condescending and clueless.

I think she'll be an ex politician by this time next year. Or a back bencher with "open to work" on her LinkedIn profile.

The only thing keeping her there is that no-one else wants the job. But, as mentioned on CS, quite apart from the fact that Tories have no intellectual talent left, Badenoch might not, shall we say, appeal to a certain section of the Reform vote they seem to want to attract. I still think that they are in a death spiral without the 'appeal' or electoral nous of Farage.

Jenrick wants the job, because he's too stupid to realise it's career ending.

Until they realise that the Reform vote isn't just about being Nazis, they are going nowhere except down. If they want to get back in power they need to clean the stables and move back to the centre ground. Sensible immigration policies and sound fiscal management, get rid of Jenrick, Badenoch, Moggy and the like. It won't get "likes" on TikTok or coverage on GB News but it might actually be more popular than they might think.

Well quite, but sadly they've shed anyone with the intellect or the fortitude to argue for that. I've still not been dissuaded that hitching themselves to Johnson's Brexit and the logical dishonesty that required is what broke them. And I know some people find it impossible to grasp that I would like to see a strong centre-right Tory Party to challenge both Labour and Reform, as intellectually-lazy dishonest politics, from whichever side, does not serve the country well.

Steve Baker seems to have discovered that just being part of Johnson's government is 'career ending' in every sense. I think he's still looking for one, poor lamb.

I googled him. He is busy fighting for a free future. He has identified that we are running out of money and we are ageing. His solution is freedom from something. In the future.

For some reason he hasn't followed the example of Truss of completely losing his marbles and going global with a freak-show act.

Local council election results are to be taken with a massive pinch of salt to an extent, but there's no doubt that Reform is having an effect. My guess here is that Labour voters have decided that Labour either isn't populist/racist enough or is too right wing, going either to Reform or Greens.

So, going off the response to other recent election results, this is a clear message that the electorate want a more left leaning Government and for a greater emphasis on green policies? Or is it just that reading anything from local / by election results a year into a Government is utterly pointless as voters just do random stuff to express their displeasure that things haven't been immediately fixed? I'm confused.
