I'm not sure you understand politics if you think its the Tories who are sinking?

Their ship was scuttled in July 2024.

HMS Parliamentary Labour Party is the one in danger of sinking at present under Admiral Kier

It's also a bit short sighted as a collapse of the Tory party will give Reform clear run at Labour come the next GE.

Lefties should be careful what they wish for.

On the subject of switching allegiance, I've never understood how an MP can be elected for one party and then just decide "Actually, I think I'll join this other party instead, sod the constituents that voted for me". Should that trigger a "Bye"-election?:hello:

If the local constituency disagree with his switch of allegiance, they will not vote for him

Or

The constituency has changed its allegiance and are behind his move to reform

One of the many foibles of our irrational system.

Have you ever seen a politician do anything honourable?

Those days of honor are sadly lacking, should be something politicians and general public aspire to

Less than there used to be.

The popular demands for quick success and to just see as far as the next election do not give time for honour to develop as a successful strategy among politicians.

Depends if you believe people vote for the person, or, if they vote for the party.

IMHO with a few exceptions, I would say they vote for the Party

Rats, sinking ship, etc.

Still the slimmest of opportunities here for the non-nutjobs left in the Tory Party to ditch the Brexit-Reform agenda, but I don't think for one minute they'll do the pragmatic thing of realising there is a vacant space waiting to be reclaimed.

Will no doubt be campaigning to stop the boats in landlocked east Wiltshire.

I'm guessing that was Mazz's point.
If the person switches party then there should be a (bye)by-election.

It never happens.
It’s pointless calling for it as it’s not in the constitution.
All parties are hypocrites when they get the chance.
