Anyone entering Parish Council seat on the premise of making profit...
1. Is going to be disappointed*.
2. Should be rejected immediately.

*Probably. I know of one councillor who made a lot of money by circumventing planning while in charge, so it can be done.

That's the way to do it, low-level 'favours'.

Now that Piddington has outed itself as a little England racist shithole

Here's someone trying to be a bit more balanced

I think enough people that once hid in the shadows outed themselves quite clearly as racists, they were absolutely fine harassing that poor woman with the brown partner as one example. It's funny how people become emboldened in the right environment.
Sounds like you're doing exactly what the right wing do when they stir up concern about immigrants. It's a small rural village, surprise, surprise, NIMBYs and the racism bell curve is a bit more to the right. For context the woman you refer to has apparently lived in the village for 20 years.

Pretty sure everybody loved Dolly Parton. She was apolitical and one of the few figures loved by the entire political spectrum. Her book scheme didn't differentiate and the only criticism I recall of it was from left leaning people who said it wasn't diverse enough in its choices.

Apparently Dolly's christian faith was a much different brand to Charie Kirk's.
