He did far more than many of his predecessors ever did to combat historic sexual abuse, yet still had to go.

Also, I am not sure why, given the percentage of the population who actually attend Church (in particular CofE Church), he, or his fellow Bishops, merit their seats in the Lords.
You are making the mistake of thinking the HoL is meant to be a meritocracy.

If we got rid of the Bishops from the House of Lords it would make Iran feel very isolated making it the only remaining country where representatives of religious groups automatically hold seats in its legislature.
