Hard to tell, but I suspect Twitter has, since the Musk purchase, being turned into an unpoliced cesspit for all the gutter dwellers of life.

I grimace whenever anyone posts a link thus perpetuating the stink.

I don't think it's any better or worse than it was before, it's just that the vast majority of Twitter links posted on here very much come from the cesspit thanks to, well, you know.

That said, there is a whole lot less moderation on there since Musk took over, which is the opposite of what people were asking for

It's immeasurably worse, IMO, but Boyle is one of the things mitigating against its decline, so I'm happy to link to his Tweet.

Anyway, since embedded Tweets upset the unfathomable Albion, and are invisible to the likes of Bolders, here's a screenshot instead...

Yeah, I did edit my post after some reflection on the moderation side of things.

It's weird how folk just seem to forget how much of an absolute bellend Musk is sometimes. I was having a chat with a normally sane pal about him the other day, who apparently thinks the Cybertruck is amazing and got a bit heated when I said it looked like it had been drawn by a five year old and doesn't actually work.

It's quite interesting to see the about face of people between the current trouble and the 2020 BLM trouble.
Firstly, let me start by saying that there is never an excuse for rioting, destroying property etc. That is criminal and unlawful

in 2020 when there were the disturbances by the BLM mob, the reaction broadly was
Right Wingers: Lock them up - deserve full force of the law - no excuses etc
Left Wingers: We need to understand what drives people to behave in this way and to deal with the causes

In 2024 with right wing community doing the damage and disorder
Left Wingers (especially Yvette Cooper this morning on the radio) Lock them up - deserve full force of the law - no excuses etc. These people are not protesting
Right Wingers: We need to understand what drives people to behave in this way and to deal with the causes

It seems the message is its ok to riot, cause damage etc if it's a cause you agree with and not ok if it's a cause you disagree with. It is sad that the country has lost its moral compass so much we do not condemn bad behaviour if it's a cause we support.

There are very few on here who will join me and say the rioting in 2020 was wrong and the rioting in 2024 is wrong. Whatever the underlying issue is, the rioting is wrong

It's only because you now don't like it's lightly moderated, so both sides of the spectrum can post their opinions.

Imagine an international social media platform thinking that quite strict moderation might be a good idea to prevent the proliferation of bullsh!t on the extremes of both sides?

Almost seems like quite a good idea.

One person's bullshit is another's truth

By moderation, you stifle free speech

Think you have to look with you head stuck in a certain direction as to claim ''right wing violence'' as both right left and the middle have been rioting over the past years. Not to mention the religious maniacs

I don't remember left-wing rioters burning buildings and throwing bricks at the police. I must have missed the Libdem Waitrose riots? Typical false-equivalence B.S. from you.

We did a quick scan yesterday and it looked like none of the riots have been in places that have just elected a Reform MP

Hmmmm

2 possibilities that I can think of

a) the people who are stirring people up and organising the places to go etc - are avoiding these places so it doesn;t look bad for the new MP - implying that they at least have some sort of connection to them
b) someone knows people who can "explain" to the people organising things how things might be bad for them if a riot happens in these areas

Of course - it could be that the new MPs are really in touch with the people in this area and the people are confident that now all their problems are over
but I am rejecting that possibility

but it does seem like a co-incidence
maybe
