As Charles is head of state I don't begrudge him being fast-tracked for treatment. The same would apply to senior govt minsters in view of the responsibility they bear.

What about the people who are the families sole breadwinner or carer? What about their responsibilities?
There's a plenty long enough line of people who could jump into a Ministers spot, or Royal heirs that can step-up to the plate.
We really have our priorities wrong!

Didn’t say I begrudged him
Didn't intend to imply that - but I don't think because something is not possible for everyone no-one should have it. It's where the achilles heel of socialism creeps in - envy. But I wouldn't want to be controversial ...
Agree with your last paragraph
Quality thinker.

You could make an argument from that that you could use criteria like this to allocate resources which are by definition finite.

Charles de Gaulle: the graveyards of the world are filled with indispensible men!

Well the world's already split into those who can pay and those who can't with respect to healthcare.
There are postcode lotteries with respect to UK health care.

Difficult decisions need to be made, am not a medical professional so don't know how treatment is apportioned, whether first-come first served, the chance of success, or the 'value' of the person to be treated (such as the mother of young children compared to a 90 year-old granny). Nobody in the health service should need to play god in such circumstances, but decisions have to be made....

It is now just about impossible to watch or listen to the news, or listen to radio without a depressing dose of cancer stories. At 76 going on 77 I know the scythe is being sharpened, I don’t want minute by minute reminders!

The good news is, he must have brought an end to climate change, war in Ukraine, war in Gaza, because they have disappeared from the news.

At 76, surely you mean wireless?

I'd like you to know that, despite my advanced years, I have kept up with the technology, I have a DAB Wireless ;)

It's not as if he's irreplaceable. There are at least a couple of replacements lined up.

It didn't take long for the media to start with this. I was only half listening, but they were on about William doing something or other instead of Charlie this morning.

He's a working Royal. Rolled his sleeves up and got stuck in. Fine chap.
That spare one's come back as well. Hoping there's a job for him? Or just that he might get written back into the will?

Or he might just have flown over to visit his Dad as most decent sons would do. It never ceases to amaze me how much shite the media can whip up about the slightest thing to do with the Royals. If he hadn't have come over, he would be getting flack, When he comes over, he gets flack. If he cooks his Dad roast pork, he gets flack for not doing beef. This type of thing is exactly why Harry wanted out, and I don't blame him
