It's depressing. One minute you're showing your mystified dad how to work his dab radio, the next you're frantically asking your kids how to turn off the phone call that's coming through the car radio. The early adopter becomes the Luddite in the blink of an eye.

A good rule of thumb is that any tech invented after you are 40 is almost certainly unnecessary.
At that point you have enough and don’t need any more.

Are you completely unhinged? Look up what the ULEZ is for and why it's there. It's not that hard to understand. It has nothing to do with aeroplanes.

Spoiler: Lots of cars, vans and lorries go to Heathrow.

Stevo is a Whataboutery Champion. "You shouldn't do ULEZ to cars cos planes!" I suspect he's deeply disappointed in the very positive data coming from the expanded ULEZ scheme in London, as he was dead against it when it was introduced, suddenly being on the side of poor people with old cars.

Amusingly, my 23-year-old Almera is compliant, so no complaint from me.

Cars have to be pretty old and diesel fuelled usually to fall foul of it. A Diesel would have to be 11 years old, and a petrol car 20 years old.

Yeah, mine's a 13 plate with 220000 miles on the clock. I've no issue with paying it when needed or to the principle of ULEZ / CAZ etc.

No issue for me personally either: my car, wife's car and daughter's car are all compliant. But given the level of emissions put out by planes it does seem a bit futile slapping the restriction on cars in that area, which has one of the worlds busiest airports. You should carry on your slide into socialism and campaign for a ban those nasty planes.

Exactly. Hence I have rim brakes and a 2015 di2 groupset. I only updated my Garmin because I dropped the last one.

I have a similar thought about music. Anything you didn't already like by about the age of 35 or 40 is just shït.

And clothes and haircuts.

The current fashion for young men with silly little moustaches makes me cringe.

I had some split knee, brushed denim, flared jeans in about 1973. Red/blue. Awesome. I fear we are straying into Accycyclist territory here.
