I can't believe selfie only came in in 2013. Then again I think they tend to lag a good year or two behind most years.
They've got a fairly high strike rate of words that have lasted, but some have disappeared almost without trace, which I've marked with strike-through. (Copilot list: not an AI fail this time). It's amazing how quickly some of these have become totally normalised.

Squeezed middle in 2011? I thought that was a thing last week 🤔
Both Ngram and the OED (you can get full access to the latter if you've got a library card from a subscribing library) are excellent ways to waste hours of time.
Ngram shows reference to 'squeezed middle' from earlier than 2011, but here's the earliest citation in the OED.

What I find really funny is people thinking that "selfies" only started in 2013, or whatever year due to mobile phones.
They've been happening for decades prior to that.
I always thought Jotul was the French for Lego. You live and learn.Have reassembled and now relit my Jotul with the side baffle plates in the wrong place. Hadn't done the job in 15 years, and fiddled with it at the end of the summer. Thought I had them right, and lit the stove today. Going to feed it tonight, it looked wrong, and I twigged I'd hung them too far back, confirmed when I checked a Youtube video.
So tomorrow morning, I'm going to don my fire suit, try to remove whatever's left smouldering overnight (without it going out), use a very thick oven glove to lift up the top baffle, so I can grab the side baffles and put them where they should be.
If you hear screaming from 800 miles away, you know I've got it wrong. PoP is that once I've lit the thing, I don't let it go out.
Annoyed.

But not baffled.
