In a LOCAL election, it is the “little stuff” which counts (or should). My local councillor(s), we have 3 per ward here, have no influence over national policies, but, I do want them to attend to the “trivia”, ie potholes, litter, flytipping, ASB, dog fouling, etc etc

Indeed. In my area my vote went to the one candidate who actually came round to visit (twice). Chap called Gregor McGregor with an amazing tache, both of which deserve a vote anyway. Independent chap with lots of vigour. My second vote I decided to chuck at a Green candidate just "cuz".

Nationalist leaders in NI, Scotland & Wales?

Whatever the problem is, that's sure to fix it.

Not that Starmer will listen, but it's a waste of time trying to persuade Reform voters to vote Labour, as they won't, and you'll only piss off your progressive supporters, as well as amplifying the xenophobic messaging of Reform.

In Sunderland, the Reform Voters (or at least a high proportion of them) must be former Labour voters, there simply were not enough (former) conservatives voters to produce this scale of upset.

Bad for Labour, but that's quite a repudiation of Right Wing politics - probably unsurprisingly for an educated & (generally) prosperous area.

The only door knocker we have had in 30+ years, was Reform. I didn’t vote for him. 😊

I don’t think Plaid are really likely to push the independence agenda. There’s not really that big an appetite for it in Wales so they are really more of a centre left party that maybe wants a few more devolved powers for the time being.

I’m not sure you repeatedly smashing the door against his head counts as him being a door knocker.

Actually, he was very pleasant. He didn’t get my vote because He didn’t live in the ward

My local authority has not “declared” yet, I suspect they are too busy weeping.

Just seen Starmer on the news and to me extreme arrogance for him to say his stepping down would plunge the country into chaos. Does he really think his being PM is sll stopping UK descending into chaos?

In an ironic(?) way I suppose Starmer keeps going on about how the electorate voted for change and now he has delivered it. The "change" being a change of many local council governance, delivered by Labour through Starmer/Reeve's widespread unpopularity.
