I see Starmer has decisively deferred the fuel duty rise for a few months. This decisive action will surely stop all debate in the matter.
A resource we won't have enough of won't go up 5p

Is the reduced polution because of action by the water companies or because most of the polluting industry is no longer there?
No it will be the EU's fault, impinging on our rights to poison wildlife, the north sea and each other.
This. Rivers were cleaner under EU regulation.
Why do you hate England?

Anyway, this is quite funny, for a lot of reasons (not least that Burnham is pretty much like Starmer but with a northern accent)

There's an argument that if he gets in he should call a snap election
Those numbers won"t last what's coming
I was mimicking what a brexiter would say when a benefit of being part of the EU is pointed out. May be a slight exaggeration for comical effect.
The argument will come from the Tories who changed PM twice without an election. "Oh, but this is different!"
If Burnham did get elected leader (and to be honest, if that's the only way to get rid of McSweeney, Glasman & Mahmood, I'd be all in favour), if he has any electoral sense, he'll wait till 2029, so it's all academic in that sense, though polls like this would boost his chances against Starmer considerably.
