Only 28% of the electorate agree with you.

Versus the 41% who voted Labour.

I think that should be 28% of those who voted. I haven't checked the turnout, but, I will be surprised if it is significantly more than 35%.

The ex-PCC only got 42% of those who voted, so, a sort of Brexit Victory.

I can see how it'll be spun, and the general pattern is favourable towards Labour which is a good thing (broadly speaking), but the way I see it the real winners are the independents.

Well of course. That goes without saying. Swap "electorate" for "voters". Turn out was 31%. Makes no difference. If people cared, they'd have voted.

Not really. Brexit was a binary question. This wasn't. The vote was split 6 ways, so 41% is massive (basic maths 😉)

The most worrying thing to me is that Reform did not come last.

I wouldn't worry too much.

Just count the seats they won nationally ;)

Curious to know why you think that

Relative to what they had to what they've gained theirs seem the most significant. Greens have done well too.

The general expectation was that Labour would do well which they have, but perhaps not as well as they'd have liked all things considered.

It is strange how the situation has completely reversed. When the Israeli hard right got full control of defining 'antisemitism' the media onlaught was near impossible to handle for the left.

Both Biden and Starmer are thus now caught at the opposite end, that being supporting an extreme right faction.
There is certainly some hint of idiocy for Starmer in the fact that he has jettisoned far too many on the left of the party, who in fact are now being proved 'very considered, not extreme'.

Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
Natalie Elfique defects to Labour and Starmer welcomes her with open arms. Can we all just accept that the Labour party are Tories now? Not like Tories, not similar to Tories, not hyperbolically or metaphorically or allegorically Tories but actually literally Tories? I've certainly reached that point.
