Looks like Labour's great give away to the public sector hasn't worked:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/busines...ctivity was 4.6,three months to December 2024.

Extract from the link in case it's paywalled:
"Public sector productivity dropped last year despite Rachel Reeves handing civil servants and NHS workers inflation-busting pay rises.
Total public service productivity fell by 0.3pc in 2024, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). It followed a decline of 0.2pc in 2023.

The public sector became less efficient last year despite staff receiving inflation-beating pay rises worth £10bn just weeks after Labour took office in July. Most public sector workers were handed wage increases of between 4.75pc to 6pc.

Public sector pay deals came with no strings attached. Critics warned at the time that it would lead to worsening productivity, which measure output per hour worked against cost.

Andrew Griffith, the shadow business secretary, said: “After Labour handed enormous public sector pay rises to the unions with nothing to show in return, these figures come as no surprise.
“Taxpayers and businesses rightly expect more for their money – we can’t compete as a nation if we are carrying too much bureaucratic bloat.”

Why on earth did they just dish out the cash with no conditions attached attached re: productivity, working practices etc?

Yes. Everyone knows that to make Nurses, Police etc work harder is to pay them less. Give them too much and they just swan around in their Ferrari's and drink cocktails. Bloody Labour.

Because comprehensive analysis of pay awards shows that between 2010/11 and 2023/24, a typical, experienced nurse had their pay cut in real terms by 25%. So a 5.5% increase last year is still fark all and the staff are still pissed off that they are expected to work for peanuts while some self-gratification artist in a suit earns four times their salary for doing sod all.

If anything he should be commended for taking money from Hezbollah by selling him the paintings.

District Judge Clarke granted bail but ordered Ojiri to surrender his passport and not to apply for international travel documents.
Ojiri will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on 6 June. The offence carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Likely Dan Norris will be deselected and a by-election will be held
Or they could just wait until he has actually been charged. I believe we have a system based on "innocent until proven guilty". An arrest is not confirmation of guilt. It might be reasonable to deselect if the CPS decide to prosecute.

Oh sorry, I'd forgotten he's not a right wing MP

He's totally innocent 😇

Looks like the CPS have worded charges to circumvent free speech and rights to criticise religion without actually mentioning religion.

What they should have done was drop the case

This is going to run on for quite a while

Clearly paying them more doesn't make them work harder, based on the figures I linked to.

It's not so much why not, more most people won't. I eat very little meat and I'm affluent enough to be able to choose quality over price. I also have the time to make that choice. I suspect American beef will be used at the cheap/processed end of the food market.

Those who don’t care won’t care, those who care can check. If they are buying cheap ready made meals then I suspect they don’t care.
Probably not PC but I could probably categorise those in our high street on sight. Made easier if they are exiting Greggs.
