Shocking. How do think it might have happened? I can't believe that Twitter which has been running since 2006 and which, until 2022, was the worlds most used and successful messaging app, has had 55,000,000 downloads on average (on android) per year, whilst Bluesky which has only been running for one year has only had 10 million downloads so far.

If only there were some sort of clue.

Not definitively but it wasn't me making the argument. There is a good article here which covers the exodus of users and huge crash in the value of X (formerly Twitter) ( from $44bn to $9Bn, massive fall in ad revenue, huge decrease in trust etc.

In the meantime Bluesky has a huge growth rate and in January was raising new funding to value is at $700 million.

Obviously it's starting from zero an increase of 10 users would reflect 10 fold .

For 3 years it's rather paltry user base. If it had gained great popularity it would be hundreds of millions of users

Again, just making stuff up. In it's first 5 years Twitter grew to 100 million users with almost no competition.
Bluesky is on 35 million in year 1 with competition from Threads.

Many people who object to it having become Musk's personal hate farm have. However the number of downloads is the number of downloads & only that - it doesn't tell you how many people regularly use the app, or how many have since deleted it.

If you can find stats for how many active users X has gained since Musk took over & moulded it in his image, then there might be something worth discussing. Unless you can do that, it's just more of your usual empty-headed shite.
