Well according to the Telegraph Keith might have slightly more up his sleeve than we give him credit for (about as plausible as rumours of his shenanigans with Lord Alli being true)

Starmer’s plan to use European summit in London to reverse Brexit

Lets hope so. I don't know exactly how much leaving the EU has cost UK businesses but if this is any indication it's a lot.

I was looking at replacing the decals on my motorhome and wanted some genuine ones so I contacted the local dealers to see if they had any, I was told they would have to order then from France the price of the decals £141.50 the cost of custom clearance from France £82.50 the sooner we sort out a reciprocal trading arrangement the better.

I think you are confusing "knows" with "thinks". You might be surprised by how much support he would get for rejoining the EU and solving the asylum issue by getting the paperwork processed.

Bit of both really.

I think we'll have to disagree on our views of whether those two things would be popular, but neither are anywhere near likely.

... He could easily move left. It would probably be enormously popular. He's just too risk averse to chance it.
I think Starmer/Reeves are too ready to listen to and accept lobbyists and vested interests. Those paid professional lobbyists work for the best interests of their paymasters who are the elite wealthy business owners and they are pushing for the best interests of those wealthy few not for society.

I find it frustrating how MPs of the party in power go on about how they frequently talk to business and "we need to ..." but talking to business and they'll get told the owners want for their best interests. We need to be a society, not an economy and the best interests of wealthy business owners does not always/rarely represents the needs of society. Government should be working for society not just the wealthy few (who can afford to buy lobbyists and provide free concert tickets/.clothes, and non-exec. directorships on MPs leaving Parliament etc.).
