My Dad died in a care home with vascular dementia progressed to the point where he didn't recognise us nor Mum.

I doubt the assisted dying proposal would help many with dementia as (my understanding) most with dementia die of something else eg my Dad died of Covid in a care home. No "less than 6 months" prognosis.

But (as we're talking about dementia) significant is the psychological hell Dad went through when it became apparent he had dementia. Sister in law's Mum he knew had severe dementia for years so he knew exactly where he was going, what was going to happen to him and nothing on Earth can stop it.

Yes, my wife was a nurse, and, as I said, witnessed her mother's decline with Alheimers, so, knows what the future holds. I agree the present bill will, in all probability be of no help, but, it pisses me off greatly that people cannot see that this is a personal choice thing, just because person A chooses to hang on until the last possible moment (regardless of quality) does not mean that we ALL have to choose to do that.

So by extension, there should be no law against burning the Koran or the bible. But you get arrested

They should make it against the law so that we can all be outraged by this.

There isn't and you don't.

If you do it in such as way as to invite public disorder then you get arrested for causing public disorder.

Try burning a copy of both in your garden. You'll find that no-one cares.

Try telling that to my neighbour. You burn anything and she is straight out the back banging on about clean air laws ;)
