It's such a shite saying though, charity should begin with those most in need. I'd rather pay taxes towards supporting someone who has had to flee their homeland and leave everything they own behind than some feckless Brit who refuses to make the most of the opportunities provided by being born in a wealthy and safe country.

 I think denying these people exist in fairly substantial numbers would be foolish although that's a long way from lumping everyone who claims benefits into that category. My wife works in the care sector and regularly used to struggle to get people to work overtime to cover sickness etc. because it would affect their benefits (that's a major flaw in the system though to be fair, it should never be financially not worth your while to work).
