For those who cannot read it the Telegraph (NB is that paper any longer a reputable source even for basic facts) is saying, based on an article in the Times Educational Supplement, that Labour are cooking the books over teacher recruitment numbers. Apparently, while they're counting the numbers in Secondary/Special education, they're not counting those in primary where teacher numbers are falling.

IIRC primary pupil numbers are falling quickly due to the low birth rate.

Don't be providing context and nuance here.

It's a pretty common thing in trade agreements. Seems to apply to people posted between countries by their employer to avoid double taxation.

Is there any evidence for the assertion it applies to newly arriving migrants seeking work?

Why would any government allow undercut its own workforce, unless it is in cahoots with international big business.

Generally people are poorer in the UK than they were when I was a kid. Even on my very modest wage back then, was able to save and buy a terraced house when I was 20 years old.

So pensioners (many) to get winter fuel allowance costing £1+ bn. And Labour can't say how it's funded. Labour very ready to criticise every other party for "unfunded policies", for not saying how they would pay for their proposals and just a few days after laying into Reform for unfunded policies Labour doing exactly that.

"Not the fizziest drink in the fridge" comes to mind.

Dunno, but it's all part of the big reveal isn't it?
My issue isn't about funding it, I think it was a daft cruel thing for Labour to have done the way they did.

What I find daft if how Labour are so critical of other Parties about "unfunded policies" then do exactly that themselves. Why is it wrong for others but OK for Labour to do it?
