Meh, do we need to tell you the parable of 3 blokes down the pub?

Oh go on, I've only heard it 37 times, and I can never remember what it's trying to prove!

There were 3 blokes who would go down the pub every week. One was an obnoxious tvvat who liked to boast about how much he earned but never offered to by more than his ‘fair share’ of drinks for his mates who were struggling. After a while the bloke was drinking alone as the others decided to stay home rather than hear him bang on about how much he earned and found they were better off.

Think I got that right.

I might remember that version.

But then, I am a Marxist.

I don't think you understand...

1) it only works one way (for arguing that tax is always too high)
2) you only have to say 'Laffer Curve' to win any tax argument, and anyone who points out that it's simplistic bollox is a Marxist.

I hope that helps.

Just to prove I know what I'm talking about, here it is again, but with a datum point! Argue with that!

Here's another example of one of these wealthy taxpayers who allegedly aren't leaving the UK for tax reasons:
Well she isn't. She's never lived in the UK. She lives in South Africa. Her business Sygnia is in South Africa and she lives in Cape Town. The article is utter baloney. They have a UK branch which filed accounts indicating company assets of around 2 million. She is a South African Billionaire.
