Starmer's vision quest

Oh dear

(my bold).
BBC podcast today and Labour insiders appearing on the program (ie not anonymous sources) saying that Mandleson was really one of McSweeney's "friends"/group and that Starmer isn't a fan seeing him as a Blairite and thus mistrusted him. Makes me wonder if the information about the emails was withheld/"delayed" in the hope some way to keep Mandleson in place could be found. How much of Starmer's failings stem from those he has appointed around himself (although in many respects Starmer appointed them so Starmer is ultimately "responsible"). And who was it that said "advisers advise, Ministers decide"

I'm still not sure if McSweeney (and Glasman) are causes or symptoms, but most of their viewpoints would sit quite comfortably in Reform.

Must admit that I've not really paid much attention to her, but her background looks suitable. (I suspect that The Times' choice of photos isn't entirely random - I don't think they do similar for a male candidate.)

With all that's being revealed and the general direction of Starmer's government, it appears to me that labour was coopted via Starmer to provide a capital friendly continuity government due to the toxicity of the tory brand.

British drug giant AstraZeneca has paused a planned £200 million expansion of its research site in Cambridge.
This decision follows the earlier abandonment of a £450 million vaccine plant in Merseyside, which was a blow to the government's economic growth plans.
An AstraZeneca spokesperson stated the Cambridge expansion was paused due to constant reassessment of investment needs, while CEO Pascal Soriot previously cited economic viability for the Merseyside cancellation.
The pharmaceutical firm recently announced intentions to invest $50 billion (£37 billion) in the United States over the next five years.
