I wonder if this was sanctioned/scripted by McSweeney, or if there is an inner Starmer that this came from. It would have been better quicker, but it's much better than the initial silence and Kyle's 'freedom of speech' guff. (This was on Channel 4 News.)

Starmer does tend to do what people want him to a day or two later. Is he cautious and likes to consider the details before committing?

Is this a bad thing? Or is he just too slow in this age of instant and spontaneous.

I think there is a place for carefully considered statements in many circumstances, but if you wait too long to criticise something that would seem to be sticking two fingers up to your core beliefs, if you wait too long it simply makes you look like a coward who is prepared to supress your beliefs because making a principled stand might cost you a few racist votes (for instance).

I shared Dunt's frustration evident here, before Starmer saw fit to make his distaste known. This is not something that needs careful consideration. Racists and 'mass repatriation' need calling out, and there has been a sense of relief that Starmer finally got around to it.

Agreed re calling out racists. But with the Rayner and Mandelson stuff he either was reluctant to act, dithering or really did need to mull over details.

Yeah, agreed re those, but especially when it's the RW press eager for a scalp. (Maybe the Mandelson one was an easier one to call early, but that only lingered a day, and that might have been down to going through various processes.)

Plenty on here have mentioned Epsteins paedo ring, and have suggested other public figures were involved, and suggested names, yet I get singled out for suggesting Mandelson, self confirmed best mate of Epstein, might have also indulged?
Jesus wept.
Perfectly valid except that there is significant evidence of Epstein recruiting girls but none as far as I can see, involving boys.

That may be true (I lack both the prurience & stomach to read up about his activities in any depth) but to me it would seem surprising & unlikely if he was not equipped to cater for all of the predilections & tastes of his numerous clients & 'best friends', whatever they may have been.

Sheer panic from Starmer.

A million peacefully march through London, some 20 arrests for scuffles with police

Who taught you maths?

150,000.

Sheer panic from Starmer.

A million peacefully march through London, some 20 arrests for scuffles with police

These people didn't march peacefully. We've seen the footage.

One police office lost his front teeth, another was concussed and 20 were injured. There were calls for the assassination of the PM, the overthrow of a democratically elected government and a foreigner called for violence on the streets.

Whereas, two weeks ago, on the Palestine march, no police officer lost their front teeth or were concussed, no calls for the overthrow of the UK Gov or the assassination of the PM. The worst crime was holding a cardboard sign with non-offensive words on it. Yet, there were 860 arrests.

Make that make sense.

Two tier policing, innit.

Which reputable source, not X or TikTok, gave you that figure of 1 million?

More of a gauge from the helicopter footage. Far more than 150k met reported

I would not trust the met after they uploaded scuffles from different year events to highlight issues with the last march
