Good question. If they do travel against advice, could the club be sanctioned by UEFA?

Depends what happens.

This could get grim.

Maybe this is just me, but has anybody else noticed that politicians are increasingly using the phrase ''and this is personal to me'' in order to be more persuasive?

Is it not the privilege of MPs to be elected as the representatives of their constituents?

Is it not the case that those with a personal interest are required to recuse themselves in order to avoid a conflict of interests?

Starmer does have an interest in this. He is married to a Jewish woman. His children being are raised in the Jewish tradition. All of which is obviously fair enough.

Whether he is bringing his home and family life to work or not, the fact that the allegation can be made, should require him to recuse himself from the situation? Otherwise doesn't this open another line of 'they're all in it for their own interests'?

I heard. Maybe someone should remind him of when israeli fans went on the rampage in Amsterdam.
Apparently not. Israeli team manager (or senior team management) on BBC radio this morning and apparently they are all angels and victims.
The evening before the match, Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were filmed pulling Palestinian flags from houses, making racist anti-Arab chants such as "death to Arabs", assaulting people, and vandalising local property.[8][1][2][9][10][11]

Re the Aston Villa football match decision
This effectively means that England can never host a major Tournament like the World Cup or the Euros again if they cannot allow fans to travel because of fear of mob violence against them

Why do you assume the block is to protect the Israeli fans from violence against them? Might be to protect local residents from violence from the Israeli fans. All the reports I've seen have been non-specific "The police said it believed the measure would “help mitigate risks to public safety”" but I wasn't involved in the decision and haven't read all reports, just some.

at the Amsterdam game it was reported that issues all started with
A report by Dutch police into the disorder, which lasted two days, found that Maccabi fans had torn a Palestinian flag down from the facade of a local building and burned it, shouted “fark you, Palestine” and vandalised a taxi, among a series of incidents before the fixture.
Followed after the match be retaliation.
