But that's unpossible, his brown with a muslamic name! Hero's are supposed to be white!
I was aiming to ape the village idiot who has gone conspicuously silent on the subject once the reality of the situation became clear.
I don't understand all this press speculation. Starmer/Reeves have already made it explicitly clear with firm commitments & promises: no income tax increase, no NI increase and no VAT increase. Plus after the budget 1 yer ago Reeves explicitly stated she "will not be coming back for more".
So why speculate when there are already firm commitments?

Because Rachel's plan for growth has failed dismally due to her last budget, and she has created a bigger black hole which needs filling.
KS and RfA have been laying the groundwork for increasing one of the major taxes, and breaking their manifesto promises.

I think breaking the very specific, very high profile manifesto pledges on top of the "we won't be coming back for more" will do more damage to politics than just making Labour a 1-term Government. People are already pretty cynical about politics mainly driven by politicians and to break such prominent, un-ambiguous pledges so soon into a Parliament (not half way through yet) will make "what's the point, they just lie the whole time ...", how politicians just can never ever be believed. Won't just damage Labour but all Westminster.Because Rachel's plan for growth has failed dismally due to her last budget, and she has created a bigger black hole which needs filling.

To me, I think it's time that Politicians learned to be more honest. Instead of months of "We will not put taxes up because we promised not to put taxes up " why not just sayI think breaking the very specific, very high profile manifesto pledges on top of the "we won't be coming back for more" will do more damage to politics than just making Labour a 1-term Government.
