Mind you, it's still an £11.6 bn shortfall according to the headline.
Just because something is lower than expected doesn't necessarily mean it is good.

You were trying to be a smartarse obviously. Without fully understanding the context of the borrowing figure.
Strangely enough, I didn't think you'd find it amusing, given it doesn't match your predictions of economic doom at the time of the Budget and Reeves's incompetence.
Brian, lower than expected, doesn't mean it's not a worryingly high figure.
Reeves entered No11 talking about the need for economic growth to rescue the UK economy which I am sure we can agree on as being needed.
Now just what has she done in her budgets to stimulate that growth? On balance her budgets have had a negative effect. And the serial leaks and U-turns in the build up to her last budget had a seriously negative impact.
And I never predicted economic doom, just that she wouldn't achieve the growth we need with her policies.
