The borrowing is still the 10th worst figure of all time.

The primary reason were increases of tax and NI raised slightly more.

Strangely enough, I didn't think you'd find it amusing, given it doesn't match your predictions of economic doom at the time of the Budget and Reeves's incompetence.

Brian, lower than expected, doesn't mean it's not a worryingly high figure.
Reeves entered No11 talking about the need for economic growth to rescue the UK economy which I am sure we can agree on as being needed.
Now just what has she done in her budgets to stimulate that growth? On balance her budgets have had a negative effect. And the serial leaks and U-turns in the build up to her last budget had a seriously negative impact.
And I never predicted economic doom, just that she wouldn't achieve the growth we need with her policies.

This.

As one of the doom merchants on here I'm pleasantly surprised that borrowing last month is below that which was predicted, but one swallow doesn't make a Summer so let's see where we are at the next election. Everything Reeves and the Labour front bench has done so far has been anti business and anti growth and there are plenty of other metrics we could judge her on rather than one month's borrowing figures. Believe it or not Brian I don't want the economy to fail, it's just that everything this government does leads me to think that it will.

The Conservative legislation gave immunity to the IRA so they could give soldiers immunity.

It was condemned by every political party in NI and every victims representative group.

I understand that NI doesn't matter to anyone here, some quite obnoxious in declaring their disinterest, but I think we should agree that UK State Forces shouldn't be given immunity for murder of UK citizens.

Labour has made its latest about-turn by granting funding to churches, cathedrals and chapels that it decided to cut last year...

Reading the reports it sounds like Gwynne has managed to get a tame GP to give him what was needed to stand down whilst receiving his pension on the grounds of ill health. It all feels like there's been a bit of scheming going on behind closed doors.
