He may not win but 100% Lanour would not win (split the bote) and he wouldn't have to step fown as Mauor unless he won as an MP.I'm sure that's the primary aim, but it would also be a disaster if they also lost the constituency with Burnham as candidate and the vacant Manchester mayoralty to Reform, given Labour's unpopularity at present.
