Its a treaty that Labour arranged by Harold Wilson and the US president LBJ a democratic.

Ironic the treaty signed by the left, probably stopped by the right person for the job

BTW, I can thoroughly recommend Ian Dunt's 'How Westminster Works', which I've referenced elsewhere. It's an apolitical but eye-popping analysis of the 'Westminster machine', with chapters on elections, MPs, 'Power', ministers, the Treasury, the civil service, the press, the Commons, the law. and the Lords. The stuff about 10 Downing St, as a building and how it shapes how government actually works in practice is almost unbelievable. It's engaging and really well written. Do yourself a favour: it might help you realise how/why so many terrible decisions are made.

So no upside for Labour which ever way it goes. Sounds good.

Burnham has now been barred from standing, which, I think is risky for him, the longer before he can exit the Mayor role and become an MP ( or better) the more chance of “issues” emerging from his time as Mayor.
