My grandfather taught me that ice cream and cream are not mutually exclusive. A wise man. You would have got on with him.

Nowt wrong with a sundae.

I think I must have something wrong with me, because I don't like jam. If ever I buy it for guests, I try to get them to take the jar away when they leave, as I always end up wasting the rest. Maybe I just need to invite you and Pross round to finish it off in one go.
My issue with Jam is that it is applied to something savoury, i.e. toast. When it appears in another context, inter alia Bakewell tart, raspberry ripple, then it is acceptable.

Now some of you will suggest that scones are not savoury. However due to their extraordinarily low moisture content, this has been impossible to scientifically confirm.

I like jam on toast, especially if I'm having it from those little containers as part of breakfast on a hotel holiday. Some similar combinations should never have been permitted though.

'No artificial colours or flavours'. That's a relief.

Ah, good point, agreed. Bread and salty butter is a savoury delicacy, not to be spoilt with sweetness of any description.

That's not an answer to my questions. You've been caught talking bollox again.

I can't help you if you can't be bothered to look at the answers. I notice that you are studiously avoiding explaining why privatisation of the Water industry was a good thing whilst pretending to be too dim to see the answer (that it isn't, wasn't and won't be).

The rules as stated:

Hot toast - salted butter only
Cold toast - salted butter and strawberry jam

I didn't make them I just follow them.

Croissants are also to be served warm only and adorned with additional butter and jam.

How did we end up on this subject in this thread? I thought we were on the random daily banter thread.

To try to get back on track, Starmer potentially getting himself in a bit of a jam with the easing of sanctions on Russian oil. It doesn't send out a very good message that our support goes out the window if things get a bit tough for us. What a clot.

It was good because people made money from it obvs. That's the only way to guage success.

To my mind it is because all is quiet on the Starmer front.
This is a good thing as the Prime Minister like children should ideally be seen and not heard. 😉

Great pivot. Would you like to be a news reader or continuity announcer?

More evidence that chasing Reform voters is daft for Labour: look at how many went to Lib Dem and Green compared with Reform, and the daftness becomes even more incomprehensible.
